High Yielding Autoflowers

High yielding autoflowers are cannabis plants that flower automatically without the need to change light cycles. These seeds automatically switch from the vegetative growth stage to the flowering stage with age, rather than the light exposure. This makes them perfect for beginners as they make growing cannabis simple and straightforward. Because of their short veg periods, these plants can grow from seed to harvest in just 8-10 weeks, meaning if you buy high yield autoflower seeds today, you could be harvesting your bud in 2-3 months.

What are high yielding autoflowers?

High yielding autoflower seeds will switch from veg to flower no matter the lighting schedule and will produce significantly larger yields compared to other autoflowering seeds. This makes them the perfect choice for growers with space constraints looking to maximize their harvest.

Let's break it down to simplify things:

  • Autoflowering cannabis: This refers to a group of cannabis sativa L. plants that borrow some of their genetic makeup from the Ruderalis section of the genus (one part of cannabis family native to Northern Europe), allowing for these strains to automatically switch from the vegetative stage to the flowering stage based on age, rather than light exposure.
  • High yielding: This refers to the potential of these autoflowering plants to produce a larger yields (harvest) compared to other auto strains. Thanks to decades-long breeding programs aimed at increasing the size and potency of these plants, today's high-yielding autoflowers are capable of producing truly ridiculous amounts of buds compared to their ancestors.

What is the maximum yield of an autoflower?

There are a bunch of variables that play into yield potential, but most experienced growers will tell you that the most significant factor is genetics. While some strains may produce only a few grams per plant, others can reach up to several hundred grams.

The climatic conditions, nutrient availability, style of cultivation, and overall plant health also play a role, but picking the right genetics is essential when it comes to maximizing yield potential.

Each strain has its own limits, but as a general rule of thumb, our high-yielding autoflowers have a maximum yield potential of around 200 grams per plant when grown outdoors or 600 grams per square meter indoors.

How can you increase the yield of autoflowers?

Just like with your traditional photoperiod strains, there are a few things you can do as a grower to help your crop of high-yielding autos really hit their genetic ceiling in terms of bud output. this includes:

  • Lighting: Ensure your plants receive an ample amount of light, ideally 18-24 hours per day. High-quality LED grow lights are recommended for their efficiency and ability to provide a full spectrum of light, although HID options also do a great job.
  • Low-Stress Training (LST): Gently bending and tying the branches increases light exposure and improves airflow, leading to more bud sites and, consequently, higher yields. SCroG net training is your best friend with high-yielding auto cultivars.
  • Nutrients: Utilizing a well-balanced nutrient regimen specifically designed for cannabis will ensure your plants have all the essential macronutrients and micronutrients they need to reach their full potential. Autoflowers generally thrive with lower nutrient strengths compared to regular strains.
  • Soil: If you plan to grow your autos in soil, opt for a cannabis-specific soil mix that is light and airy with good drainage. A soil mix enriched with organic matter can support healthier root development and enhance nutrient absorption.
  • Hydroponics: For the more advanced growers, hydroponic systems can significantly increase yield potential by providing direct access and control over nutrient delivery to the plants. It also eliminates the need for soil, making it easier to maintain a clean growing environment.
  • Pot Size: Larger pots allow for more extensive root growth. A 10-15 liter pot is typically sufficient for the entire life cycle of an autoflower. Always plant your auto strains in the pot you intend to harvest them out of, as transplanting can cause stunted growth and ultimately, lower yields. Remember, autos only have a short vegetative growing period, so you want to handle them with care.
  • Watering Practices: Avoid both under and overwatering. Overwatering can cause root rot, while underwatering can stunt growth. Keep a consistent watering schedule and only water when the topsoil is dry to the touch.
  • Climate Control: Maintain an optimal growing environment with moderate humidity (50-60%RH during vegetative growth, 40-50% for flower growth), adequate ventilation, and a stable temperature range of 65-85°F (18-29°C).
  • Pruning: Minimal pruning is recommended for autoflowers. Only remove necessary leaves and branches to prevent unnecessary stress on the plant.
